Background
ICON Investments Private Limited is a registered
private limited company in the Maldives. The company was incorporated
under an expansion plan of Insight Consultancy Services (ICS)
- the first local consultancy firm in the Maldives.
ICS founded in 1996 by Mohamed Ali, was undergoing a massive
restructuring process as a result of its success over the
years. The aim of this restructuring was to upgrade the potential
departments of ICS to operate independently as new organizations
and then bring these companies, including ICS, under the main
holding company, FALIM Group Private Limited.
Today, ICON is one of the most successful investments
under FALIM Group Private Limited. The other major investments
of FALIM Group Private Limited are ICS Maldives Private Limited,
(www.ics.com.mv), MAPS Institute
(www.maps.edu.mv), WorkFlow Technologies International
Private Limited (www.wti.com.mv) and Moodhu Holidays
Private Limited (www.moddhu.com). WTI and
Moodhu are the most recent companies which were established
in the year 2005. WTI was previously operated as the Custom
Programming Department of ICS.
FALIM Group Private Limited is fully owned by the two brothers
Ahmed Ali and Mohamed Ali. FALIM Group is named after their
late father Furahani Ali Manik. Majority shares of ICON Investments
Private Limited are owned by FALIM Group Private Limited. |

ICON Investments had recently
undergone rapid restructuring and has re-invented itself with
a comprehensive information technology product-service package
to suit the diverse needs of our customers.
ICON Investments intends to play the role of a strategic partner
in the development process of the businesses rather than just
as a supplier of hardware products. We at ICON realize that
computers and other related accessories are not just a one-time
purchase or just another plug-in appliance. We comprehend
the fact that like any other investment, all information technology
related purchases are an investment and affects the efficiency
and performance of our customers.

Objectives
ICON originally being the
computer services department of ICS, its main line of business
still remains Information Technology. At present the objectives
of ICON Investments Private Limited are as follows:
- To provide IT products, technologies, solutions and services.
- To provide services in the field of Information Technology,
especially computer hardware and software troubleshooting
and network installation and maintenance.
- To provide POS accessories to complement the services
provided by ICS.
- To introduce and become the market leader in delivering
biometric solutions to the Maldives.
- To enter into, and be the leader in the market of web-based
security systems and related services.

Personnel: Management
Mohamed Ali, BBA (Hons)
Exeuctive Chairman
Mohamed Ali founded ICON in
July 2001 . He worked with several companies in the Maldives
in the capacity of Financial Analyst/Consultant after receiving
his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the International
Islamic University, Malaysia. During the year 2000 he has
also completed the Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT)
qualification from the Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants – ACCA, UK.
Mohamed Ali started his career
as a Commerce Teacher at Aminiya School in 1995. He has lectured
at Faculty of Management and Computing and was instrumental
in bringing and introducing world renowned Financial Management
courses like CIMA-UK & AAT-UK into Maldives at the Faculty.
During the past 8 years, he has successfully created an investing
company called FALIM Group Private Limited which is the holding
company of Insight Consultancy Services, Modern Academy for
Professional Studies (MAPS) and ICON Investments Private Limited.

CEO of ICON Computers
The Managing Director of FALIM Group Private Limited and the CEO of ICON Investments Private Ltd, Ahmed Ali joined the group after completing his first degree in Information Science from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1997 in addition to his BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies from United Kingdom. In 2001 he topped it up with a Masters degree in Geographical Information Systems from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
Mr. Ahmed Ali also worked in the Ministry of Environment Energy and Water while at FALIM Group for several years. In addition, he is also the President of MAPS Institute and the Executive Director of ICS Maldives Pvt Ltd. He has a flair for IT and has strong knowledge and application skills and, is well exposed to diverse aspects of Information Technology.

Afsal, CAT
Deputy General Manager
Mr. Abdulla Afsal joined the company as a
part time Audit Assistant in 2001. Then he was working as
a Secretary for expatriate affairs at one of the largest schools
in the country. Later on, he joined the company as a full-time
Technical Coordinator at the ICON Service Centre. After successfully
completing his Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Course
of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of UK,
at our subsidiary training academy, the Modern Academy for
Professional Studies, he was promoted to the post of Manager,
Procurement and Cost Control at ICON Computers. He is also
in charge of the procurement activities of our sister concerns
namely, Insight Consultancy Services, and Modern Academy for
Professional Studies. Among other major responsibilities,
Afsal holds the portfolio for sourcing and servicing our suppliers
and prospects from the region as well as from outside.

Franklin

Mr. Kenneth Franklin joined
ICON for better prospects in April, 2005. After completing
his Diploma in Hotel Management from the Trade Wings Institute
of Management, Mumbai, he started off his career as a Front
Office Assistant at Hotel Horizon at the famous Juhu Beach
in Mumbai. Later on he joined Hotel South Park in Trivandrum
, India , where he served as the Front Office Supervisor for
2 years. In 1994 he joined BPL Connect as a Senior Sales Executive
and in 1996 he joined BPL Mobile and was awarded the best
retailer for selling prepaid connections in the Kerala region.
In 2001, he joined National Panasonic Consumer Electronics
Division as Assistant Manager, Sales, looking after 3 geographical
regions. He started his career in Male' in 2003 when he joined
a computer retailing outlet based in Male' as the Sales Manager.

Mr. Harindra joined us in July 2004 as a
Hardware Support Engineer at ICON Service Centre. He is now heading the ICON Service Centre as the Manager, Technical Support. Prior
to his assignment at ICON, Mr. Harindra was working as the
IT Co-coordinator at the American College of Higher Education,
Colombo , where he was also handling their IT Division and
conducting IT courses. Mr. Harindra has been a computer hardware
technician and Network Administrator for 2 years at the Lanka
Institute, which is the first hardware institute in Sri Lanka. |

Saifudden Anshad
Technical Support Engineer
Upon completion of his Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Kerala, India, Mr. Anshad has also obtained a Diploma in Computer Applications, Diploma in Basic Electronics, and a Diploma in Computer Hardware from India. Mr. Anshad is also a Cisco Certified Network Associate and is well exposed to configuring Cisco Routers and Switches. He has worked as a Customer Care Engineer at Accusystems, India, as well as Computer Technician at BITS Pvt. Ltd, Male'. He joined ICON as a Senior Hardware Technician in June, 2005. |

Technical Support Engineer
Mr. Riyaz joined ICON as a Senior Support Technician in October 2005 after having worked in diverse environments, at the same time maintaining and perfecting his IT experience. After the completion of his schooling, he worked at Infinion Print as a graphic designer for 1 year. Over the years Riyaz has acquired rich experience in the field of PC troubleshooting and repairs by working in various capacities such as System Administrator at CaféNet for more than one year, and System Administrator for 1 year at Haa Alif School. He also worked as an On-call computer service technician in his native island, Haa Alif Hoarafushi. Having joined ICON for better career prospects, Riyaz also holds a Certificate in PC Troubleshooting and Maintenance from International Business Systems Overseas. |

Sakthidharan Krishnan
IT Support Engineer
After successfully completing his B. Sc. degree in Physics
from Muslim Arts College (India) in 1994 Sakthidharan took
a deviation into IT by pursuing the Diploma in Computer Hardware
Engineering from POWERTAC Computer Solution (India) from 1998
to 1999, and MS Office training from SSI (Software Solution
Integrator) (India) in 1999. He worked as a Service Engineer
at Micro Data Systems (India) from 2000 to 2002 and at S.
M. V. Info Systems (India) as Hardware and Network Engineer
from 2002 to 2006. Mr. Sakthi was employed in the Maldives
previously as a Computer Technician at Electron Service Private
Limited. Among the various courses he did in the field of
IT the most noteworthy is the Microsoft Certified Systems
Engineer (MCSE) qualification which he attained through the
Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Ltd. (IIHT) in 2001.
Sakthidharan is the latest member to join the ICON support
and service team early this year.
